This is an application for a demo permit with the City of Lafayette.

Please make sure you have or are actively working on the following prior to submitting this application:

  1. Deeded Owner or authorized agent approval (if you are not the deeded owner or authorized agent they will need to submit a separate authorization form which can be found at the top of our applications page).
  2. Sewer Seal Permit. If disconnecting from city sewer you must obtain a sewer seal permit prior to the demo permit. We will not issue a demo permit until we recieve confirmation from Lafayette Renew that the sewer connection has been sealed or that a sewer seal is not required (If you need a sewer seal permit please check the box on the following page).
  3. Please notify all utilities and schedule service retirement (electric, gas, water). This is not needed if the structure you are demolishing does not have these services. You will need to check a box in this application informing us what services (if any) need retirement. We will independently confirm with each service prior to issuing any permits. This does not apply to interior demo only projects.
  4. Bonded and insured contractor is required. The contractor must have a current certificate of commercial general liability insurance (this does not apply to interior demo only projects) and a $5,000 Surety Bond listing the City of Lafayette as the obligee.
  5. Historic structures (those in a local historic district or those listed in the national registry) must go through a concurrent but seperate process with the Community Development Department. If your property is historic please call (765) 807-1090 in addition to submitting this applciation. This does not apply to interior demo only projects.
  6. Attachments may be submitted using the paper clip icon in the upper left hand corner or you can submit separately to permits@lafayette.in.gov. Please include all attachments at once. Once you click submit/accept you will not be able to attach any more documents.
A permit will not be issued until all of the above requirements are met. Once all requirements are met and all approvals are made we will send you an invoice so you can pay for and be issued your permit.
