This is an application for an event oriented sign in the City of Lafayette.

In addition to submitting this application, if you are not the deeded owner or authorized agent you must have them submit a seperate owner authorization form.

Please include all attachments at once. Once you click submit/accept you will not be able to attach any more documents. You may also submit attachments to permits@lafayette.in.gov.

After a complete submission and review we will contact you with further instructions including payment information. Please allow 5-10 business days prior to contacting our office.

  1. These are signs intended to commemorate a special event, sporting event, new business or a sale.
  2. These signs are not permanent in nature and are permitted only on the premises where the event will take place.
  3. Event signs may be used for no more than 21 days within a 90 day period, for no more than 4 times a year.
  4. Each sign placement requires a permit.
  5. Event signs may not be placed within the right-of-way of any street, nor in the vision triangle formed by the intersection of street, alleys or driveways.
  6. A sign which advertises an event being held in another location is a billboard (use of portable signs for this type of advertising is prohibited).
  7. In a residential area, other than an institutional use, event signs are permitted for no more than 3 days within a 90 day period.
